FLORA OBSERVATION

Stretching hundreds of miles between the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez, the Baja peninsula is an amazing ecosystem encompassing sea, coast, mountains and desert, amidst vistas of almost infinite flora and fauna.

Hunters, fishermen and surfers were among its early visitors, today, they are joined by rock climbers, hikers, bicyclists, divers and off-roaders (Baja is home to the Baja 500 and 1000). Visitors sail on the sea and parasail in the sky.

Stargazers view the universe from observatories and ornithologists study migratory sea birds through binoculars. Adventurers in cages view great white sharks and others swim with whale sharks, while schools of dolphin pass nearby.

Some ecotourists view cave painting that are thousands of years old, while still others visit native settlements or gaze in wonder at giant cacti, in a landscape where desert meets sea in one of the great locales in the world for ecotourism.

In Baja, ecotourism truly is in our nature. [+]
